The studio sits on the second floor of a converted warehouse in Indiranagar, Bengaluru, with high windows and a single row of industrial fans. Three people work there full-time. The cutting table is twelve metres long. They cut by hand against paper patterns we draw upstairs in the studio.
On the day of our visit, the first 80 hoodies from Drop 001 were laid out for finishing — leather tags hand-stamped, brass eyelets pressed at C7, the small repair-kit envelope tucked into the kangaroo pocket.
There is a particular hour, mid-afternoon, when the dust from the cotton fleece gets caught in the high windows and the whole room looks like an old photograph. We watched it for ten minutes and didn't talk.
